Description

This is the gravesite of Laura Foster, murder victim of Tom Dooley. She was the subject of the Kingston Trio song "The Ballad of Tom Dooley" or "Hang Down Your Head Tom Dooley." The grave is on the east side of a Pasture on a bluff overlooking the Yadkin River. It is about 200 feet from the highway. The grave is marked by a small fence of whitewash locust logs.There is a monument to her memory on the north side of the highway. There is a small parking area at the monument.
